A Sufi leader dressed in traditional white robes and a black embroidered sash, known as a 'طريقة' [tariqa, Sufi order sash], holds a ceremonial banner during a 'mawkeb' [procession] celebrating the Islamic New Year in Cairo. The procession unites participants from across Egypt's governorates and tribes, reflecting the deep-rooted Sufi tradition in Egyptian spiritual life. His emblem-adorned 'taqiyya' [skullcap] and green medallion mark his distinguished rank within the Sufi order.
