A geometric reflection pool with inlaid stone patterns leads toward an arched Mamluk-inspired pavilion surrounded by tall palms and lush greenery inside Al-Azhar Park (Hadiqet El-Azhar), Cairo. The park, developed by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture and opened in 2005, is built on the historic Darassa Hills overlooking Islamic Cairo and is one of the largest public green spaces in the Egyptian capital. The warm golden-hour light enhances the symmetry of the landscaped gardens and the ornate red-stone architecture of the pavilion.
