Three young male students from an Al-Azhar religious school stand in front of a chalkboard inside a classroom in Qena, Upper Egypt. The boys wear traditional Azhari dress — long galabiyyas (galabeyas) in brown, navy, and blue — and white skullcaps with red trim (Taqiyya), the standard uniform of Al-Azhar religious institutes. Arabic writing is visible on the chalkboard behind them. Al-Azhar institutes form one of Egypt's most established religious education networks, operating across governorates including Upper Egypt.
