Rows of young male students wearing traditional white skullcaps (Taqiyah) and blue galabiyyas sit at wooden desks inside a classroom of an Al-Azhar affiliated religious school in Qena, Upper Egypt. Al-Azhar schools are part of Egypt's oldest and most prestigious Islamic educational institution, providing religious and academic instruction to students across the country. The classroom setting reflects the traditional learning environment common in Azhari schools throughout rural Upper Egypt.
