About this asset

Groups of visitors, many dressed in traditional white garments, gather around the central ablution fountain (Mida'a) in the open marble courtyard of Al-Hakim Bi-Amr Allah Mosque on Al-Muizz Li-Din Allah Street (Shari' Al-Muizz), Islamic Cairo. The mosque, founded by the Fatimid Caliph Al-Hakim Bi-Amr Allah between 990–1013 CE, is one of the oldest surviving Fatimid mosques in Egypt, featuring characteristic crenellated exterior walls and pointed arched arcades. The image was captured at golden hour, with warm late-afternoon light illuminating the courtyard.
