About this asset
The inner courtyard of Al-Nasir Muhammad Mosque (Masjid Al-Nasir Muhammad ibn Qalawun) inside the Cairo Citadel (Al-Qala'a), one of the most significant surviving Mamluk religious monuments in Egypt, built between 1318 and 1335 CE. The courtyard is framed by pointed stone arches on recycled Pharaonic and Greco-Roman columns, topped by a distinctive green dome above the prayer hall and decorated merlons along the roofline. A red carpet runs across the courtyard floor toward the qibla wall, with visitors visible in the background.
