About this asset
The inner courtyard (sahn) of Al-Salih Tala'i Mosque in Islamic Cairo, photographed at dusk with warm lantern light illuminating the pointed arches and carved stone medallions along the arcade walls. Two distinctive minarets rise above the courtyard against a twilight sky. Built in 1160 CE by the Fatimid vizier Tala'i ibn Ruzzik, Al-Salih Tala'i is one of the last surviving Fatimid mosques in Cairo and stands just outside Bab Zuweila, one of the historic gates of medieval Cairo.
