Cairo Tower (Borg El Qahira) stands prominently on Gezira Island as viewed across the Nile River, with a small felucca-style boat visible on the water. The tower, completed in 1961 and standing 187 meters tall, was designed by Egyptian architect Naoum Shebib in a latticed concrete form inspired by the lotus flower.
