Three customers stand at the fresh fish display counter at Al-Akramin (El-Akramin) seafood restaurant in Sayeda Zeinab, Cairo, selecting fish to be cooked to order. The counter features an illuminated display case filled with whole fresh fish laid over ice, framed by dark green marble cladding. This style of fish selection — where customers choose their fish directly from the display before it is grilled or fried — is a common practice at Egyptian seafood restaurants (Samak Restaurants).
