An Egyptian male artisan shapes a large clay vessel on a traditional kick pottery wheel inside a rustic workshop, surrounded by unfired clay pots in various stages of production. The craftsman's clay-covered clothes and focused posture reflect the hands-on nature of this ancient Egyptian craft. Pottery making (Fakhkhara) is one of Egypt's oldest surviving traditional industries, with notable centers in Fustat (Old Cairo) and Upper Egypt.
