A marble fireplace with elaborate carved detailing anchors an interior wall of Fahmi Palace (Qasr Fahmi), a historic residence once belonging to the Fahmi royal family in Cairo. Above the mantel hangs a large oil painting in an ornate gilded Baroque-style frame, flanked by fluted pilasters with gold capitals and antique wall sconces. The palace is located on Sheikh Reihan Street in the Tahrir area, adjacent to the old Ministry of Interior building. The interior reflects a 19th-century European-influenced Egyptian aristocratic style common among elite Cairo families of the era.
