A fisherman sits cross-legged on the quayside at El-Max fishing harbor in Alexandria, Egypt, hand-mending a large fishing net surrounded by colorful floats and tangled netting. A blue wooden fishing boat is moored directly behind him, with urban harbor buildings visible in the background under a dramatic cloudy sky. El-Max is one of Alexandria's oldest and most active traditional fishing communities, where net repair remains a daily essential craft passed down through generations of Mediterranean fishermen.
