Four antique iron cannons mounted on wooden wheeled carriages are displayed within a sunken stone bastion at Al-Qusayr Fortress, photographed from an elevated vantage point atop one of the fortress's eastern bastions. Al-Qusayr Fortress is a historic Ottoman-era coastal fortification located in Al-Qusayr city on the Egyptian Red Sea coast, originally built to defend the strategic port used by pilgrims traveling to Mecca. The cannons are well-preserved examples of pre-modern artillery typical of Ottoman and early modern military installations in the MENA region.
