A local mosque with a distinctively decorated white minaret featuring colorful tile work and a golden spire stands among date palm trees in Ezbet El-Borg (Ezbet El-Borg), a coastal fishing town at the mouth of the Damietta branch of the Nile. The surrounding buildings reflect typical Lower Egypt coastal architecture, with sandy open ground in the foreground and a motorcycle passing nearby. Ezbet El-Borg is one of Egypt's key Mediterranean fishing communities, known for its dense concentration of mosques serving its local population.
