A finely carved marble portrait bust of Roman Emperor Hadrian (reigned 117–138 AD), featuring his characteristic curly hair and full beard, displayed on a dark plinth against a deep red background at the Greco-Roman Museum in Alexandria, Egypt. Hadrian was the first Roman emperor to wear a full beard, a style that influenced Roman imperial portraiture for generations. The Greco-Roman Museum in Alexandria houses one of the most significant collections of Greco-Roman antiquities in the Mediterranean world, reflecting Alexandria's pivotal role as a cultural crossroads under Ptolemaic and Roman rule.
