About this asset
An upward-angle view captures the densely painted columns and decorated ceiling of the Hypostyle Hall inside the Temple of Khnum in Esna, Upper Egypt. The columns feature palm-leaf and composite capitals covered in polychrome hieroglyphic carvings depicting Egyptian deities, ritual processions, and astronomical symbols. The temple dates primarily to the Ptolemaic and Roman periods and is one of the best-preserved examples of ancient Egyptian religious architecture in Upper Egypt.
