Two visitors walk along the rocky desert ground at the base of the Pyramid of Menkaure, the smallest of the three main pyramids on the Giza Plateau, Giza, Egypt. The pyramid, built during the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom circa 2510 BCE for Pharaoh Menkaure, rises sharply against a hazy blue sky, with its stepped granite and limestone casing blocks clearly visible. The foreground shows the arid, rocky plateau terrain characteristic of the Giza Necropolis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most significant archaeological complexes in the world.
