Male quarry workers, their bodies and clothing entirely coated in white limestone dust, stand amid thick dust clouds on the open quarry floor at the Eastern Mountain quarries in Minya Governorate, Upper Egypt. Workers begin their shifts as early as 3:00 a.m., extracting stone and manufacturing white bricks until 11:00 a.m. under physically demanding conditions with no occupational protection or insurance. The image documents the daily reality of informal quarry labor in rural Upper Egypt, where workers risk respiratory disease and physical injury in exchange for daily wages.
