A quarry worker is photographed through the circular hole of a large stone-cutting saw blade at the Eastern Mountain quarries in Minya Governorate, Upper Egypt. Workers begin their shifts as early as 3:00 a.m., extracting limestone and manufacturing white bricks under harsh conditions of dust and heat until late morning. The image documents the physically demanding daily reality of informal quarry labor in rural Upper Egypt, where workers operate without adequate safety protection or insurance coverage.
