Two quarry workers operate heavy stone-cutting machinery at the Minya Quarries in the Eastern Mountain region of Minya Governorate, Upper Egypt, with dense limestone dust reducing visibility around them. Workers at this site begin shifts as early as 3:00 a.m., extracting stone and manufacturing white bricks under harsh conditions until late morning. The quarry industry in Minya is a primary livelihood source for local workers who face significant occupational hazards including dust exposure and lack of formal insurance protections.
