A documentary photograph capturing free herders resting on the side of the road after roaming the streets with their cattle during the Eid al-Adha season in Cairo. These herders travel through different neighborhoods guiding cows, buffaloes, goats, and sheep toward markets and temporary gathering points across the city. The image reflects a quieter side of the seasonal livestock trade, where moments of fatigue, companionship, and rest appear amid the noise and movement of urban life. Sitting beside the road, the herders take a break while remaining close to their animals, surrounded by the atmosphere of Cairo’s crowded streets. The photograph highlights the relationship between people, livestock, and the city during one of Egypt’s most important annual traditions.
