The interior of the Convent of Saint George (Mar Girgis) in Coptic Cairo, one of the oldest active Christian convents in Egypt. The image shows the central nave with a large wooden arch, carved wooden pews, stone walls with iron-grilled windows, and a decorated wooden ceiling typical of Coptic ecclesiastical architecture. Visitors are seen near the altar area under natural light filtering through upper clerestory windows.
