Votive candles burn on a brass candle stand before a tall wall display of religious icons inside the Monastery of Saint George for Nuns (Deir Mar Girgis lil Rahibat) in Mar Girgis, Old Cairo. The icon arrangement features Saint George slaying the dragon at the top, surrounded by smaller narrative panels depicting scenes from his life, framed by warm stone walls. The monastery is one of the oldest active Coptic Orthodox religious sites in Egypt, located in the historic Coptic Cairo (Masr El-Adima) district.
