A student stands outside the green iron gate of a multi-story Egyptian school building in Abis, Alexandria, watching peers lined up for the morning assembly (Tabour) inside the courtyard. Two Egyptian flags are mounted on the school facade, a common sight at government schools across Egypt. The morning assembly is a daily routine in Egyptian public schools where students gather in rows before classes begin.
