About this asset
The interior of the Sultan Faraj Ibn Barquq Mosque (Masjid Al-Sultan Faraj Ibn Barquq) in the Mamluk City of the Dead (Sahara Al-Mamalik), Cairo, featuring massive stone columns, layered pointed arches, and a vaulted hypostyle prayer hall characteristic of late Mamluk architecture from the early 15th century. The structure is located in the Eastern Cemetery (Al-Qarafa Al-Sharqiya) along Salah Salem Road in Manshiyat Nasr. Globe-style pendant lamps hang from metal rods suspended between the columns, a modern addition to the otherwise preserved medieval stonework.
