About this asset
The twin minarets of Sultan Faraj Ibn Barquq Mosque stand prominently against a partly cloudy sky in the Eastern Cemetery (Sahara al-Mamalik), located along Salah Salem Road in Cairo. Built in the early 15th century during the Burji Mamluk period, the mosque complex is one of the finest examples of Mamluk funerary architecture, featuring intricately carved stone minarets with muqarnas detailing and bulbous finials. The site sits within the historic necropolis of Cairo, administratively part of Manshiyat Nasr, bordering the neighborhoods of Al-Gamaliya (El Gamaliya) and Al-Darb Al-Ahmar.
