About this asset
A group of performers dressed in traditional white robes and turbans perform the Tanoura (التنورة), an Egyptian folk and Sufi-rooted whirling dance, on the stone stage of Wikala Al-Ghouri (وكالة الغوري) in Islamic Cairo. Drummers and musicians accompany the dancers under dramatic stage lighting against the historic Mamluk stone walls of the venue. Wikala Al-Ghouri, built by Sultan Qansuh Al-Ghouri in the early 16th century, regularly hosts folkloric and Sufi performance nights and is one of Cairo's most significant Mamluk-era cultural landmarks.
