Dozens of hand-thrown unfired clay plates and traditional pottery jugs (Qolla) are laid out on the floor of a rustic Egyptian pottery workshop, drying before kiln firing. The workshop features a mud-plastered stone wall, a worn wooden storage cabinet, and a decorative arched window with geometric triangular lattice detail allowing backlight to filter through. Pottery making is one of Egypt's oldest continuous crafts, with villages such as Fustat in Cairo and Qena in Upper Egypt remaining major centers of traditional clay pottery production.
