About this asset
A veiled woman in red stands beneath a large ornate brass lantern (mashkah) suspended from the ceiling inside Al-Rifa'i Mosque (Masjid Al-Rifa'i) in Cairo, one of Egypt's most significant late Islamic-era mosques completed in 1912. The interior features elaborate carved stone arabesque panels, pointed arched niches, and rows of brass chandeliers casting warm golden light across the prayer hall. Al-Rifa'i Mosque serves as the burial site of members of Egypt's royal family and Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi of Iran, located adjacent to the Citadel of Saladin in Historic Cairo.
