Two male workers bend over plastic harvesting crates sorting fresh date palm clusters (Balah) still attached to their golden yellow rachis branches, inside a shaded palm grove. Large bunches of ripe yellow-orange dates are piled on the grass awaiting sorting, while a third worker stands nearby. Date farming is a centuries-old agricultural tradition in Egypt, particularly along the Nile Delta and Mediterranean coastal regions, with Alexandria's Montaza area historically known for its palm gardens.
